Wir sind zwar aus dem Wasser aber der Mast ist leider immer noch nicht in Blickweite. Theoretisch sollen wir diese Woche (hallo, es ist schon Samstag!) Bescheid bekommen, ob er zumindest schon fertig gebaut ist.
Es ist aber auch genau diese Zeit, die uns die Gelegenheit gibt, ohne Stress (weil wenn der Mast drauf ist, wollen wir natürlich bald Leinen los machen), die Renovierungsarbeiten durch zu führen.
Und von denen gibt es jede Menge, wie wir drauf gekommen sind.
Man darf nicht vergessen, daß sie 14 Jahre in Charter war, viele Seemeilen gesegelt ist und die Chartercrews sicher nicht immer sanft mit ihr umgegangen sind.
Und bekanntlich wird ein "ich nehme da mal kurz die Schraube raus" oder "was ist eigentlich hinter dieser Abdeckung" oder "ich tausche MAL NUR KURZ das Licht im Badezimmer" ...
ein Riesenprojekt, denn die versteckten Teile haben es teilweise in sich: 14 Jahre nicht entdeckter Schmutz, 14 Jahre ein kleiner und immer größer werdender Einriss in der Wandverkleidung, 14 Jahre ausgemergelte Schalter (weil sie einfach von anfang an nie gscheit installiert wurden) etc.
Und genau diese "Kleinigkeiten" bessern wir auf, verhübschen unschön gewordene Aluminiumteile, verlegen neue WasserAbleitungen, bessern Löcher im Gelcoat (die weiße Außenschicht) aus, geben Epoxi Harz in Löcher, wo Montagen drauf waren, die niemand jemals benötigt hat.
Und dann natürlich auch die Vorbereitungen für den 220V Strom an Bord und unsere Solarpanelen. Und genau auf das werden wir uns jetzt stürzen!
We are out of the water by now, but still the mast is not anywhere in sight. Actually we were supposed to be notified if at all our mast is ready to be shipped to us.
But this waiting time is actually not too bad, as we can do various projects now that maybe we had postponed for later. As when the mast is on we actually want to leave soon.
It's the little things that have always bothered us, but of course see the story of the boat: 14 years of charter, 14 years of maybe not too carefull charter crews, 14 years of lots of miles sailed.
So every "I quickly have a look into this cupboard" or "I just quickly remove this screw" or "I just quickly change the light in the bathroom" turns into minimum 1hour projects.
14 yrs of greese behind the stove, 14 yrs of a little tear in the headliner that got bigger and bigger, 14 years of worn out switches because they were mounted the wrong way ...
And these are the "quick little things" that we are changing and renovating: replacing rotten aluminium pieces, changing all water hoses and pipes, new lights, new gelcoat into the holes, new openers of the cupboard, varnishing some of the doors, reopening draining holes etc etc.
And right now we are preparing everything for our 220V system on board and the solar panels. So get the sewing machine and multitool out!
